EastEnders confirms why Whitney reported Gray for murder

EastEnders spoilers follow.

Whitney Dean has reported Gray Atkins to police over fears for his wife Chelsea's mental health in EastEnders.

Chelsea has been increasingly withdrawn from family and friends ever since her son Jordan became sick in hospital days after his birth.

Monday's (February 7) episode saw Gray on edge over the possibility of the Argee Bhajee undergoing construction after the recent explosion in the Square.

He pretended to be an insurance adjuster, and was horrified to find out Tina Carter's burial site could be exposed because the Argee Bhajee needed to be fully stripped.

At the same time, Chelsea continued to sink into depression even after Denise encouraged her to use the prescription she'd recently got at the hospital.

Chelsea was forced to go to the hospital alone since Gray was still at the Argee Bhajee. After she was able to hold baby Jordan for the first time, Gray snapped at her for gloating when he had to 'work'.

Gray's vicious rant sent a tearful Chelsea into the Square, where Whitney begged her again to accept her help to get away from Gray.

"I want for it all just to stop," Chelsea admitted.

When Whitney questioned whether or not Gray had discouraged her from taking meds for her depression, Chelsea shouted at her to leave the family alone.

"I won't let him do this to you," Whitney insisted.

Later, Whitney was shown in the police station where she bravely told a police officer: "I need to report a murder."

Viewers may know that the tension between Whitney and the Atkinses will explode because of her decision to go to the police with her theories.

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
