Easter weekend TV guide: 13 shows and films you don't want to miss

After a week of sunshine, the cold weather is set to return this weekend – so we're seriously grateful for all of this brilliant television.

From classic films to brand new documentaries and, of course, the latest episode of Line Of Duty, there are plenty of shows to keep you entertained this weekend.

Here's our guide to all of the best new programmes airing in the next four days...

Good Friday - 2 April

The Sound Of Music (5.45pm, BBC One)

Get the Bank Holiday weekend off to a wholesome start by rewatching this Rodgers and Hammerstein classic when it airs on BBC One.

We’re pretty sure you don’t need us to explain the plot of the musical, which stars the legendary Julie Andrews, but it’s worth pointing out that The Sound Of Music does clock in at a whooping 2 hours and 50 minutes – so watching it in one sitting might be a bit much for younger viewers.

Grayson’s Art Club (8pm, Channel 4)

While travel isn’t on the cards just yet, Grayson and Philippa Perry have invited fans to indulge in a little wanderlust and submit projects inspired by previous trips.

Derren Brown and comedian Alex Horne will be sharing their creative works and as it's the series finale, a number of stars who have featured in recent weeks will be popping up again to bid farewell to the hit programme.

Gogglebox (9pm, Channel 4)

The nation’s favourite TV lovers aren’t taking Easter off and in this week’s instalment we’ll find out what they made of the latest Line Of Duty, The Flight Attendant and Celebrity Bake Off episodes.

They’ll also be offering their no-holds-barred verdicts on Matt Hancock’s recent divisive This Morning interview.

Saturday 3 April

Scoob! (6pm on Sky Cinema Premiere or Now)

This animated Scooby Doo spin-off is the perfect choice for a family film night. The movie, released in cinemas last year, sees Scooby and the gang face their biggest challenge yet, as a spooky ghost dog tries to escape.

Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway (7pm, ITV)

The second of this weekend’s much-anticipated series finales will see Ant And Dec in the Saturday Night Takeaway studio for the final time this year.

The duo will bid farewell to viewers with the help of Star Guest Announcer, comedian Mo Gilligan.

BlacKKKlansman (9pm, Channel 4)

Spike Lee’s jaw-dropping dark comedy is one to watch after you’ve put the kids to bed. The Oscar-winning film stars John David Washington and Adam Driver as policemen who infiltrate the Ku Klax Klan in 1970s America – and it’s based on a true story.

If you need something a little more family-friendly, Sky One is broadcasting The Da Vinci Code, starring Tom Hanks, at 9pm, while earlier in the evening (6.40pm), Film4 is offering up Mrs Doubtfire.

Easter Sunday - 4 April

Songs of Praise: Easter Sunday (1.15pm, BBC One)

Katherine Jenkins hosts this Easter Sunday special, filmed at Llandaff Cathedral in Cardiff. The opera singer will explore the story behind the Paschal candle, which is lit at Easter, before performing one of her favourite hymns.

The Llandaff Cathedral Choir, Vocal Creation, The Voice UK winner Blessing Annatoria and Sir Bryn Terfel will also be taking to the stage.

Britain's Got Talent: I Wasn't Expecting That (2.15pm, ITV)

ITV’s trip down memory lane continues with a look back at some of the most surprising Britain’s Got Talent auditions from over the years.

The nostalgia-fest will include the first ever auditions from stars including Susan Boyle, Paul Potts and Stavros Flatley.

The Boat Race (3pm, BBC One)

Settle down for an afternoon of sports, as the Cambridge and Oxford women’s and men’s rowing teams go head-to-head.

The annual staple is making a welcome return after 2020’s event was cancelled and the race will look a little different, as the boats battle it out on the Great Ouse at Ely instead of on the traditional River Thames course.

Clare Balding will present the two-and-a-half hour special, while Katherine Grainger and James Cracknell provide analysis alongside lead commentator Andrew Cotter.

Line Of Duty (9pm, BBC One)

Sunday’s episode is the third in the new series, which means we’re almost at the halfway point.

As always, the BBC are keeping plot details under lock and key but we can tell you that AC-12’s investigation will step up after a new witness comes forward with seemingly ground-breaking information.

Easter Monday - 5 April

This Morning (10am, ITV)

Despite the bank holiday, the This Morning gang will be back in the studio. Expect celebrity guests, eclectic segments, mouthwateringly-good recipes and more than a few laughs.

Sort Your Life Out (6.25pm, BBC One)

Watch out Marie Kondo – Instagram’s Queen of Clean Stacey Solomon is coming for your crown.

The Loose Women panellist frequently shares her tips on Insta and now, she’s helping Brits who have struggled to keep their clutter in check.

The series premiere will see Stacey and her team – organiser Dilly, carpenter Rob and cleaner Iwan – challenge the Yaku family to complete a mammoth declutter in just seven days. Can they let go of half of their possessions and breathe new life into their family home? Watch this space.

Louis Theroux: Shooting Joe Exotic (9pm, BBC Two)

A decade after first featuring the self-professed Tiger King in his America’s Most Dangerous Pets, Louis Theroux returns to Oklahoma.

Theroux’s return comes after a direct call from Joe – now imprisoned on numerous animal cruelty charges – who urges the film maker to tell the “real story”. The 90-minute special includes previously unseen footage of Exotic and brand new interviews with his family and friends, as Theroux picks apart the true crime story of the zoo owner’s arrest.
