“We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x.”

The 29-year-old musician shared a picture of a pair of blue and grey baby socks laid out in a cot on knitted baby blanket in blues and green hues.

Sheeran and Seaborn are childhood sweethearts who met at school in Framlingham, Suffolk. They have been in a relationship since 2015 and married in secret in December 2018.

Sheeran announced he was taking a break from showbusiness to focus on family life when his Divide world tour came to an end in August 2019.

He said at the time: "I'm starting a life with Cherry. I can't spend the next 20 years on the road.

"Kids would be the different thing. I wouldn't mind sacrificing for them.

"If someone told me you can't tour again for the next 10 years if you have kids that is fine, because that is what I have signed up for.”

Sheeran, who is estimated to be worth £170m, lives with Seaborn in a sprawling country estate close to where he grew up and is fiercely private.

The Castle On The Hill singer now owns six properties in a village that has come to be dubbed “Sheeranville” by neighbours and includes his own pub on site.
