In case you needed any more reasons to love Oscar-winner Eddie Redmayne, the British star has revealed he occasionally pays the rent for struggling actors calling London an “impossibly expensive” place to live.

In his cover star interview, ‘The Danish Girl’ actor told GQ why he likes to help upcoming thespians who reach out to him for help.

“The greatest privilege that I had was that my parents lived in London. So when I was out of university and out of work for a year, working in a pub, I didn’t pay rent,” he says.

“And I get letters from people trying to go to drama school and needing to pay their rent. And so that’s something I occasionally do. It’s impossibly expensive to live in London.”

Redmayne, who became an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2015, was at Eton college in the same year as Prince William, and graduated from Cambridge with a degree in History of Art.

He’s not the first star to criticise the expensive tuition fees charged by drama schools. In 2014, Dame Judi Dench revealed she also received correspondence from upcoming actors who are struggling to make ends meet.

“Anyone who’s in the theatre gets letters countless times a week asking for help to get through drama school,” she told the Observer. “You can do so much, but you can’t do an endless thing. It is very expensive.“
