The stately capital of Scotland is prepping for ‘small explosions’ and superhero-based disruption as the production of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ roars into town.

According to the Edinburgh Evening News, filming will begin in the city this weekend on the movie, with drone footage being shot in the Old Town.

Apparently, the production has warned its new, temporary neighbours of those ‘small explosions’ on both April 2 and April 6, while the famous Royal Mile will be used for filming for a week from March 30.

Marvel fans should make of note of those dates in particular, though it’s not known yet which of the cast will be in attendance.

But it’s a solid list to choose from with the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, new Spider-Man Tom Holland and Chrises Pratt, Evans and Hemsworth all possible sightings.

Baz Morrison, who manages the city’s branch of Games Workshop, is obviously rather excited, telling the Evening News: “This is great for the city and especially fantastic being on the High Street. There is potential that it could draw people in and we could get a few more customers but Edinburgh is such a beautiful city and I think we sometimes take it for granted.

“Plus if Iron Man walked into the store, or anyone we recognise, there would be definite squeals of excitement.”

John Stephenson, a resident of the Old Town, added: “I have lived on the High Street for 30 years and I have seen many things but this is the most exciting because the film company has told us there is going to be explosions and drones and dozens of A-listers.

“You get a fair bit of noise at night from drunks and people singing but this noise will be fabulous because when I go to see the film I can say I was there.”

The movie is due out in April, 2018.
