Heated confrontations outside the Portland Police Bureau East Precinct between anti-racism protesters and those opposed to some of their actions marked the 71st night of protests in the city on August 6.
This footage shows the moment an elderly woman used a fire extinguisher to douse a fire in a barrel being guarded by a protester. The woman later flashed a sign emblazoned with “BLM” to those filming the interaction.
A riot was declared by police on August 6, as was the case as protests continued on August 8, during which a small fire was lit inside the Portland Police Association building. Credit: Scott Keeler via Storyful
