Hollywood's award season is in full swing with the Oscars scheduled for this weekend and the Independent Spirit Awards taking place last night.
The award show – which is dedicated to independent film makers – saw the likes of Carey Mulligan, Cate Blanchett and Elle Fanning in (virtual) attendance, where everyone continued to pull out all the stops when it came to fashion despite not having a traditional red carpet in place.
Fanning was one of the best-dressed stars of the night, choosing a beautiful lilac dress for the occasion which was from Vivienne Westwood couture. The metallic gold silk design, which featured a pearl strap, was paired with a pearl choker and was inspired by Catherine the Great’s love of pearls, the actress explained on Instagram.
The dress also featured one of Westwood's signature corsets and a draped effect on the waist. She paired it with gold metallic heels and two necklaces from Vivienne Westwood's jewellery line, a three-row pearl choker and a broken pearl necklace.
Fanning was nominated for 'Best Female Performance In A New Scripted Series' for her portrayal of Catherine The Great in Hulu's 'anti-historical' comedy-drama The Great.
