Ed Sheeran fans were left scratching their heads during the Brit Awards last night when music legend Elton John paid tribute to his “dear friend” Ed Sheeran.
The ‘Rocket Man’ singer appeared via a pre-recorded video to introduce Ed, but he managed to hilariously butcher his name calling him something that sounded like “Ed Sh’ran”.

“I’m so sorry I can’t be there in person,” Elton said while wearing his trademark OTT sunglasses.
“But I couldn’t miss the opportunity to talk about one of my dear friends. From the very first time I heard Ed Sh’ran, I knew he would be a huge star across the world.”
Viewers online pounced on the flub, asking themselves whether they’d been pronouncing the ‘Shape of You’ singer’s name wrong the whole time.
Can we all talk about the way Elton John pronounces his “close friend” Ed Shé-ran’s name? #brits
