Elton John: There are very few bits of me left
Sir Elton John has compared himself to The Bionic Woman admitting there are “few bits of me left” after battling prostate cancer.
The 72-year-old singer contracted a dangerous bacterial infection in 2017 while undergoing treatment for prostate cancer.
Sir Elton tells Graham Norton in upcoming documentary Elton John: Uncensored: “'I literally had to learn to walk again. I was extremely sick. Luckily I survived it. Now I am fine. But there are very few bits of me left!
“There is no hair, a pacemaker, there is no tonsils, there is no prostate, there is no appendix. I have had kidney stones. I am like the Bionic Woman. I am like Lyndsay Wagner or Steve Austin. Whichever one you want to call it.”

The Bionic Woman was a 1970s TV show starring Lyndsay Wagner about a US tennis player who after beiing injured in a skydiving accident is fitted with bionic implants which give her superhuman powers, similar to another show The Six Million Dollar Man about cyborg superhero Steve Austin.
Sir Elton is father to sons Elijah, six, and Zachary, eight, with usband David Furnish.
He revealed how after undergoing the operation the pain was so unbearable he thought: “Don’t let me die, I want to see my children grow up.”

The Rocket Man singer also revealed that after doing several Las Vegas residencies, he would like to do one in London.
He said: “I’d like to do a residency like Kate Bush at Hammersmith Odeon. When I do, I will not be doing all the hits and I will tell people beforehand. I’d like to give my other repertoire a go and still do some of the well-known songs - the ones I’m not so fed up with.”
