Emmerdale airs more emotional scenes for Vanessa Woodfield tonight (February 28) as she heads to hospital alone.
In Friday's visit to the village, Vanessa is left disappointed when Charity (Emma Atkins) can't leave the house quickly enough at breakfast time.
Still struggling to come to terms with Vanessa's news, Charity is clearly avoiding her – but her sad struggles coincide with an important day for Vanessa.
Vanessa is due in hospital to receive the results of her scan, so heads there alone as she hasn't had an opportunity to tell Charity about it.
As Vanessa's appointment gets under way, she's upset to hear that her cancer has spread and is now at stage three.
Fortunately, Vanessa is reassured that she still has every chance of making a full recovery and will receive the best possible care in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Charity continues to struggle as she goes about her day at The Woolpack.
Chas (Lucy Pargeter) can sense that something is wrong with Charity, who's wary to reveal too much as she doesn't want to betray Vanessa's confidence.
Vanessa's news has certainly knocked Charity for six, but how will she feel when she returns home and discovers that her fiancée went to the hospital without her?
Emmerdale airs tonight at 7pm on ITV.
