Eva Green is Sin City’s Dame to kill for

Rodriguez finally casts his femme fatal.

Former ‘Bond’ girl Eva Green has been cast as the titular lead in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming graphic novel sequel ‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For’.

It ends months of speculation over who would play the character.

Green will play Ava Lord, described by original series creator Frank Miller as “one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City”. The French born actress will share most of her scenes with fellow series newcomer Josh Brolin – as the film follows Brolin’s Dwight McCarthy (originally played by Clive Owen) plotting his revenge against the woman who betrayed him: the dame to kill for.

Praising the 32 year-old’s casting, Miller said: “From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green.

“We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us.”

Green recently finished filming on another Frank Miller project, Spartan prequel ‘300: Rise Of An Empire’. Her arrival in ‘Sin City’ puts an end to the casting rumours surrounding Ava Lord.

Originally offered to Angelina Jolie, who turned it down, it was speculated Playboy’s Crystal McCahill would take on the character after the glamour model posted ‘Sin City-esque’ artwork and on-set self-shots of herself online. Green’s arrival now makes it likely McCahill will in fact be playing one of the conservatively named ‘Girls of the Old Town’.

Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Jaime King, Jessica Alba and Rosario Dawson are all set to reprise their roles form the 2005 film - whilst new additions Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple and Julia Garner join Brolin and Green as the fresh meat on-set.

No real confirmation yet on Clive Owen’s involvement, as Brolin took over playing Dwight after the script called for the character to have facial reconstruction.

‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For’, directed by Robert Rodriguez, is set for release October 2013.
