Evan Peters: Quicksilver’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Slow-Mo Scene Is ‘Bigger, Longer And More Detailed’

‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’ is a film that’s packed with to the brim with tremendous set pieces. But, despite the competition, the undoubted highlight came in the form of Quicksilver’s slow motion incapacitation of the police that were keeping Magneto imprisoned.

It really was quite something. That’s why it was such a relief to hear that Evan Peters will be returning as Quicksilver in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, and he’s now admitted to Collider that he will be getting up to his old tricks again.

Peters revealed, “Yeah, Quicksilver does his thing again. It’s bigger, longer, and more detailed. I think it’s an amazing sequence that they’ve put together.”

While you’d expect Evan Peters to try and ramp up anticipation for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ by insisting that the sequence is infinitely better than the one in ‘Days Of Future Past’, he went on to reveal another slice of information that suggests it actually almost certainly will be.

- Marvel Studios Has X-Men / Fantastic Four Plans?

Peters added that they “shot for 22 days of second unit working on the sequence.” That’s a particularly long time to be working on one specific action set piece, and it was something that Peters acknowledged was “amazing.”

Peters concluded by remarking, “I think it’s going to be a fun and enjoyable sequence for people to watch, with Quicksilver running around and doing his thing in slow-mo time. I hope people like it.”

It certainly sounds like director Bryan Singer and his extremely talented crew have looked to eclipse what’s widely regarded to have been the stand-out scene from ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’. And if they’re able to maintain the fun and charm of the original during this elongated sequence then it could easily end up being one of 2016’s stand-out scenes.

OK, maybe I’m jumping the gun a little bit with the above comment. But, I have to admit, Peter’s remarks have single-handedly, and instantly, increased my excitement for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. We’ll find out if the film itself can live up to these expectations when it’s released on May 27, 2016.
