Candyman is the latest horror classic to get rebooted for the 21st century, following the success of Halloween.
Taking a similar approach to that 2018 reboot, Candyman is a "spiritual sequel" to the original 1992 movie and will seemingly ignore the events of the previous two sequels: Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh and Candyman: Day of the Dead.
There's some serious horror pedigree behind the scenes too as Jordan Peele has co-written the new version with Win Rosenfeld and director Nia DaCosta, with Peele's Monkeypaw Productions also producing.
"The original was a landmark film for black representation in the horror genre," said Peele in 2018.
"Alongside Night of the Living Dead, Candyman was a major inspiration for me as a filmmaker – and to have a bold new talent like Nia at the helm of this project is truly exciting.
"We are honoured to bring the next chapter in the Candyman canon to life and eager to provide new audiences with an entry point to Clive Barker's legend."

Candyman trailer: When is the Candyman trailer coming?
We don't have too long to wait for the first trailer as it's been confirmed that it'll arrive on Thursday, February 27.

The trailer release was announced with a terrifying trick on Twitter that dared people to hashtag Candyman five times.
Anyone who did that got an instant reply with a five-second sneak peek that features a spilled drink, the iconic Candyman hook and some screaming, naturally.

Candyman cast: Who's starring in Candyman?
Continuing his stellar rise, Aquaman and Watchmen's Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is in the lead role, rumoured to be the grown-up Anthony McCoy from the first movie.
It was thought he could be the new Daniel Robitaille, AKA Candyman, but director Nia DaCosta denied it. "I can't say what's happening in the film because we want it to be a surprise, but he's not replacing Tony Todd," she told Collider.
So is Tony Todd reprising his iconic role for the new movie? Apparently so, but it hasn't been 100% confirmed yet.
Talking to EW in January 2019, Todd revealed that he'd be up for an appearance: "I'm hoping I will appear in the film in some form of fashion. Wouldn't that make sense? But it's Hollywood, so I won't take it personally if for some reason it doesn't work out."
We do know though that the movie will also star WandaVision's Teyonah Parris, Fear the Walking Dead's Colman Domingo, Misfits star Nathan Stewart-Jarrett and Rebecca Spence, among others.
Candyman release date: When is Candyman released?
There's not too much longer to wait as Candyman will be released in UK and US cinemas on June 12.
Filming took place in August and September 2019 in Chicago.
Candyman plot: What's Candyman about?
We don't really know too much about what to expect from the new chapter of Candyman, other than it'll return to the Cabrini-Green public housing development in Chicago that has now been gentrified.
It's likely that it'll follow a similar structure to the original, with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's character taking the place of Virginia Madsen's graduate student as the latest person to investigate the urban legend of Candyman.
In case you didn't know, Candyman is a supernatural murderer who is said to appear when you look into a mirror and say his name five times.
He's revealed to be the ghost of a black artist who fell in love with a white woman in the late 1800s and was brutally murdered by a lynch mob.
The movie taps into issues of historical and modern racism, and although the original white director's take may have been questioned by some critics in recent years, there's no doubt that the story – and Todd's portrayal of the Candyman – still resonate today.
Candyman is released on June 12.
