'I have no idea!': Prince William plays when asked about Baby Sussex's arrival

Kensington Palace and the House of Sussex are working overtime to quash rumours of a feud between Princes William and Harry.

Eagle-eyed royal watchers are well aware of the royals attempt to put on a united front, with reports surfacing of a secret visit by Prince William and Kate Middleton to visit Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at their Frogmore Cottage home.

Aside from the private visit, the Duchess of Cambridge Cambridge stepped out alongside brother-in-law Prince Harry for Anzac Day. Both Duchess Meghan and Prince William were absent from the service, but with good reason — the Duchess was reportedly at home resting, while the Duke of Cambridge was in New Zealand to mark Anzac Day as well as honour victims of March’s terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch.

During his trip to New Zealand, Prince William played coy with royal well-wishers after being asked whether or not there were “any signs” of Baby Sussex.

“I haven’t got my phone on me,” William told the crowd in a video while patting his coat pocket. “I have no idea!”

The video, shared to Instagram by New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, shows the Duke of Cambridge in good spirits.

“You guys will find out before I do at this rate!” he jokingly added.

The Cambridge and Sussex camps have tried to use social media to paint the picture of a happy family. The Sussex clan shared photos of Prince William in New Zealand for Anzac Day, while Kensington Palace shared a photo of Princes William and Harry to celebrate the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s eighth wedding anniversary on Monday.

The damage control over the brothers’ fallout comes after a less-than friendly appearance on Easter Sunday, where the princes avoided one another and made little to no contact. Many insiders speculate that the brothers missed a prime opportunity to squash feud rumours once and for all.

A source revealed to ET that William and Harry are simply at “different stages in their life,” however many believe the pair’s fallout to be much more complicated.

Rumours of tension growing between William and Harry first emerged when the Duke of Sussex’s relationship with his now-wife, Meghan Markle became very serious, very quickly.

According to insiders, Prince William cautioned his younger brother that “things were moving too quickly, leaving Harry angry and hurt.”

In 2018, royal biographer Robert Jobson revealed that the attention surrounding Harry and Meghan upset William, who is “extremely competitive” when it comes to media coverage and is known for being “a little grand.”

The popularity of the Sussex’s royal tours abroad, combined with their formal separation of households and record-breaking Instagram following is an unprecedented amount of attention for a royal couple sixth in line for the throne.

While many believe William is green-eyed with envy for his brother’s overwhelming popularity, many believe the true cause of the rift is due in part to Prince William’s alleged infidelity with Rose Hanbury.

In March, The Sun published a piece detailing a falling out between Kate Middelton and friend, Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholommondeleys.

According to the story, the Duchess of Cambridge ordered her husband to “phase out” Hanbury, whom she allegedly refers to as her “rural rival.”

Soon after the story was published, a royal insider tweeted, and then deleted that the real reason behind the feud was actually long-standing affair between Prince William and Hanbury, who is also married with children.

Several major news outlets have been weary to pick up the story regarding William’s alleged infidelity, which many believe is due to threats from the Cambridges’ communications team.

Across the pond however, where news outlets are less inclined to remain in the good graces of royal insiders, the consensus remains that Prince Harry has distanced himself from his brother over the affair.

While the affair drama is still unfolding, the latest developments in the William and Harry rift are reports that the royal family is moving Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex and their growing family to Africa.

The Sunday Times broke the news of the move abroad, with sources citing the real reason as an attempt by the Cambridge team to squash the growing popularity of the Sussexes.

The move to Africa is not only top choice to keep in line with the Sussexes Commonwealth endeavours, but is far from American and Australian news outlets.

A source has been quoted as saying, “People are telling William, ‘Don’t worry. Your influence will grow and Harry’s will fade… this is peak Harry.’”

A spokesperson for the royal family didn’t deny the reports, but released a statement noting, “Any future plans for The Duke and Duchess are speculative at this stage. No decisions have been taken about future roles. The Duke will continue to fulfill his role as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador.”
