Yahoo Movies Ex-Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw lands next movie role
Former Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has landed her next film role in coming-of-age music drama Finding My Voice.
Shaw starred in the long-running ITV soap as Maxine Peacock from 1995 to 2003, before she was memorably and brutally killed off by Richard Hillman.
Now, Shaw has swapped the cobbles for a dark drama from Arabella Burfitt-Dons (director of Grey Matter). The movie has completed principal photography and is in post-production, according to Variety.

The film also stars The Raid 2 actor Arifin Putra, former EastEnders star Michelle Ryan and newcomer Anais Garness.
Garness appears as aspiring singer-songwriter Melanie Kendall, raised in a North London council apartment. Ryan plays Melanie's mother and Putra portrays music producer Chris Russell.
Written by producer and star Donna Taylor, Finding My Voice follows Melanie's rise to fame. The film explores familial loss, alcoholism and sexual exploitation.
The cast also includes Peter Andre, Vicki Michelle, Junior Andre, Kierston Wareing, Nick Moran and Rachel Warren.

Speaking previously about the film, Taylor said: “I wanted the script to reflect the challenges of growing up in poverty, when it feels like there’s nothing else life can throw at you but somehow you find a way to just keep going.”
Burfitt-Dons said of the movie: "Finding My Voice isn’t just about the music; it’s a reflection of young people growing up in difficult circumstances. Melanie’s journey to stardom is more than challenging, and unexpectedly dark.”
Finding My Voice is yet to receive a release date.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
