The Hunt spoilers follow.
The Hunt is now in cinemas after a six-month delay and the social thriller has some major surprises up its sleeve.
Not only does the whole controversy over its first trailer end up being reflected in the movie, but the first casualties of The Hunt aren't the characters you'd expect.
Digital Spy spoke to producer Jason Blum about those surprise early exits and needless to say, spoilers await.
After the group of 12 strangers wake up in a clearing, they discovered a large box that one of them opens. Inside is a selection of weapons, but no sooner have they picked them up, they start being shot at by a sniper.
One shot nearly kills Yoga Pants (Emma Roberts) and just as she says, "That almost hit me", another shot kills her. Shortly after, Trucker (This is Us star Justin Hartley) inadvertently steps on a land mine which explodes, killing him.
It's a brilliant sequence that leaves the viewer unsure of who will survive, and that was exactly the point.
"We cast those characters up so that their deaths would be a surprise," Blum told Digital Spy. "I think there were definitely other people [we considered]. You got to be pretty brave to do it, so I commend the people that we got to do it."
"The one thing that drives everyone insane about trailers is that they often give the entire movie away," he explained.
"We actually had the opposite problem in that our first trailer perhaps held back the most important part of our movie... that it was an over-the-top satire."
