Paul Parker believes recent £60million Tottenham signing Richarlison “has to move on” if he wants to play, due to the presence of Harry Kane.

Richarlison was a consistent performer during his four seasons at Everton. The Brazilian scored 53 goals in 152 games for the Toffees, as well as providing 14 assists.

The most goals he scored in a single Premier League campaign was 13. He reached that tally twice, during his first campaign in 2018/19, before repeating it again the following season.

He managed 10 goals in the struggling side last season. Everton narrowly avoided the drop, picking up some valuable points at the back end of the season to put themselves four points clear of the relegation places.

Those solid numbers led Richarlison to a £60million move to Tottenham. While he’d been performing at Everton for years, that move raised eyebrows due to the presence of Kane, along with forward partner Heung-min Son.

Throughout the season, Spurs have done little to vindicate their decision to buy Richarlison for such an outlay.

He’s played 24 times in the league, starting just 11 of those, and has scored once – in a loss to Liverpool – and provided just four assists.

What’s more, Kane and Son have largely retained the same roles they had last season, and the former now has the second-most goals in Premier League history.

Parker feels Richarlison ‘has to move on’ to play

As such, it’s unlikely Tottenham are ever going to drop him. The only way he’ll be displaced from the side is through injury or if he is sold, though that’ll likely be to a Premier League side, now his eyes are firmly fixed on that goals record.

Former Manchester United man Parker feels Richarlison needs to move on, despite it being so soon after signing for Tottenham, so he can succeed.

“The only option for Richarlison is to wait and see what Harry Kane wants. Does he want to move on or does he want to retire as a Tottenham player? I think he wants to stay at Tottenham,” he told SpilXperten.

“Richarlison is not going to get the game time he wants at Tottenham, so he has to move on. Almost every team would love to have him in their squad because the centre halves hate playing against him.

“He might not be the best player but he is a nightmare to face as a defender.”

Parker details attractive Richarlison qualities

Parker detailed the qualities Richarlison has that would stand him in good stead at another side, or even at Tottenham, though the likelihood of him playing an awful lot is slim.

“I really like Richarlison and I think that Spurs would be a lot better with him as a centre forward instead of Harry Kane. The fire in his belly gets the fans going and he is a real sh*thouse of a player, which can affect the team very well,” Parker said.

“He was amazing at Everton and the fans loved him. If he played for Everton this season the club would have been a lot higher up in the table.

“Richarlison is a crazy person and I love him for that. He would have a go at his own mother if it means that he would achieve something as a player and every team could use a player with that desire.”

Indeed, there will be other teams that have identified those qualities. As such, if he is to leave Tottenham, he shouldn’t be stuck for choice over where to go.
