The Fall's Jamie Dornan to star in new mystery thriller for BBC One

From Digital Spy

The Fall's Jamie Dornan is gearing up to front BBC One's upcoming series The Tourist.

The Northern Irish actor, who is also known for appearing in big-screen outings such as A Private War and the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, is set to play a British man who finds himself being run off the road by a huge tank truck in the Australian outback.

Later, he awakens in a hospital, injured and confused about what happened. What's most worrying though is that he can't remember who he is – a problem that soon becomes life-threatening when a bunch of merciless figures start pursuing him.

The show will consist of six parts and has been described as "character-driven" and "mystery-packed," and will apparently be a mix of high-stakes action and offbeat black comedy beats.

Danielle Macdonald (Unbelievable) as probationary constable Helen, Line of Duty's Shalom Brune-Franklin as waitress Luci and The Lord of the Rings' Hugo Weaving as detective inspector Lachlan Rogers round out the cast.

"The Tourist are some of the most exciting scripts I've ever read," Dornan teased in a statement. "I can't wait to go to Australia with such a talented group of people."

"It's tonally breaking new ground for us," writers Harry and Jack Williams said. "Having Jamie Dornan on board is the icing on the Australian cake.

"Thrilled to be working with [director] Chris Sweeney again as well as the BBC, HBO Max, Stan and ZDF."
