Blink and you’d have missed the ‘Beauty of the Beast’ Chip character cups, not to mention the Chip purses on sale in Primark.
Now, the cups, which cost £5 in the shops, are being sold for as much as £50 to collectors on eBay.
But after being ‘inundated’ by demand from fans on social media, the clothes chain is getting more stock of the cute, £5 tea-vessels in May, after more stock disappeared last week.
“Our Chip Mug has been super popular and is now sold out with the exception of Kingston, Gateshead, Edinburgh, Leeds and Derby who have had a delay on their deliveries,” read a message from the retailer.
“Don’t worry if you didn’t manage to get one this time! We have more arriving in May!”
Branches in Manchester, Oxford, Nottingham and Glasgow will be among those getting the mugs back in, but they’re expected to sell out fast.
The popularity of the Disney live-action remake, starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast, meanwhile, continues apace.
The movie has now breached $700 million since its release on March 17, hammering all other movies in its wake.
It set a record for the biggest ever March opening of a movie (beating ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’), and is the seventh biggest opening weekend of all time in the US.
