From building a multi-platform social media empire and authoring a fashion book to holding ambassadorships with the likes of Bvlgari, Armani, Dior and Dyson, Victoria Magrath is one of the greatest online success stories around.

The Wigan-born fashion doctorate has legions of fans across all the major platforms, but the biggest is Instagram with 1.1m followers. From makeup tutorials and ‘Get Ready With Me’-style Reels to lifestyle posts, the sheer volume of high-quality content she and her team puts out through her brand INTHEFROW is a testament to her unwavering dedication, passion and hard graft.

And, while the pandemic threw the world upside down, Magrath has been busy at home, thinking of ways to keep her captive audience entertained and engaged.

We caught up with her to find out about life in lockdown and plans for after.

How have you kept your spirits up in lockdown?

Long walks in the countryside air have been my saviour, making sure I take time for myself and keep active while we’ve been stuck within the confinements of our homes. Baking and experimenting with new recipes, indulging in long hot baths and introducing our gorgeous puppy Boe to the world are all responsible for keeping me happy and grounded within the last 12 months.

What’s the first thing you’ll do once restrictions lift?

Hug my Dad. I haven’t seen my dad since July 2020 so I cannot wait to see him, and the rest of my family. Then, I can’t wait to brunch! I miss avocado toasts and oat lattes in London, so I intend to head back into the city whenever I can spend time with friends.

Oh, and book a holiday to somewhere gorgeously hot as we all deserve a little break from what has been a trying time.

Which stores have you missed visiting IRL over the last year, and why?

I must admit I’ve missed strolling through Harrods whenever I’ve had meetings in Knightsbridge, mainly to look at the latest Bvlgari bags and pick up chocolates and coffees from the food hall. You can easily lose an afternoon to lusting after the latest Maxichain bag or trying on the new season’s shades.

What have you got planned for 2021, personally and professionally?

I intend to really make the most of it! I have a number of fantastic launches coming up this year that I am eager to talk about as soon as I am able. We have been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic to make things happen and I’ll be so excited when we can finally introduce our various projects to my audience and the world.

I would love to travel when the time is right, on both UK soil and new terrains. Feeling the sun on my face and the sand between my toes is something I’m dreaming about! My husband and I are also renovating our garden, so I intend to throw garden parties at least once a month for the foreseeable to make up for everything we’ve all missed out on in the last year.

What one fashion accessory is a Zoom chat must-wear, and why?

I’ve always felt my most productive when I’m dressed and ready for the day. An element of sparkle or a statement jewel can be the perfect accompaniment to a classic button-down shirt, and will have you feeling Zoom-ready! A little something that could be a talking piece during your chat, or will catch someone’s eye when a silence looms.

Earrings or a necklace are my go-to! I tend to opt for the Bvlgari Serpenti Necklace with a white open shirt, it’s so stylish and simple.

What’s a fool-proof lockdown birthday gift?

Creating a restaurant in your house, or in someone else’s is the perfect gift. Or send them a hamper of wine, dessert and ready-to-cook food that so they can have a fantastic dinner with their partner. I’d highly recommend Pasta Evangelist for this - homemade pasta fresh to your door and cooks in a matter of minutes!

What’s the one product you can’t live without?

My Bvlgari Serpenti Seduttori watch without a doubt. I carry my phone with me everywhere, but I’ve always preferred to tell the time by a watch. It’s forever been my accessory of choice, and so I am rarely seen without it.

Your top guilt-free pandemic purchase?

It was a Christmas present from my husband, but I’d have to say the Peloton bike. We both use it daily, and whilst it’s absolutely a splurge, it’s been worth every penny. It’s kept us both active and has been the perfect escape when the headlines get a little too much to handle mentally.

What beauty product should be in everyone’s cabinet?

An SPF day cream - my favourites are from Alumier MD and Armani Beauty. It takes 10 seconds to apply and for the rest of your life, your skin will hugely thank you for it.

Your five favourite Instagram accounts to follow, and why?

  • @Figsforsupper_photography: food pictures done beautifully and aesthetically.

  • @JadeHollandCooper: One of the most inspiring women I’ve ever met - she owns the fabulous Holland Cooper Clothing, and looks fantastic every single day whilst looking after her gorgeous new baby.

  • @Doina: a super stylish lady from Moldova, living in Milan with the coolest Italian apartment and fashion and travel orientated feed. But done uniquely and originally.

  • @ShelleyMokoena: A lady with serious style and an eye for aesthetics. Every photo could be on the cover of Vogue.

  • @ParisInFourMonths: again I must just be drawn to aesthetic feeds, but Carin has such a beautiful eye for details and fills my feeds with beautiful tones and imagery from Paris that makes me miss it every day.
