Fast 8 Behind-The-Scenes Video Showcases Zombie Cars Stunt

‘Fast 8’ has given us our first look at an impressive new stunt…

A new video from the set of ‘Fast and Furious 8’ has unveiled a crazy new stunt… and gives us our first look at the high-octane thrills and spills of the upcoming sequel.

“This is a sequence which we call ‘Zombie Cars’,” said second unit stunt co-ordinator, Andy Gill. “We have thirty-five to forty cars in this pile up… It’s going to be spectacular. Total carnage.”

And the cast already seem pretty impressed.

“This action is like nothing you’ve ever seen,” said franchise star, Vin Diesel.

And with a Lamborghini plummeting to the ground near a crowd of extras, it’s safe to say that this could be the most visually-impressive stunt yet.

“We have seven cars falling from the parking structure,” said special effects supervisor, J.D Schwalm. “And each one of them is aiming at a motorcade here. We have to pull these cars at an exact speed, and we’re doing that using a winch on the crane… each car comes out in succession, then land on the vehicles on the road, here.”

“Obviously there’s no-one in them, because they’re about to be impaled…”

Of course, it’s stunts like these that really make the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise what it is… and which have moved the series on from its street racing beginnings. But how this sequence fits into ‘Fast 8’ remains to be seen.

Will they be able to top this?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but it’s a very promising start.

‘Fast 8’ heads to cinemas on 14 April 2017.
