A new still from the set of 'Fast and Furious 7' shows that Vin Diesel's fan favourite character Dominic Toretto is about to be reunited with the Dodge Charger that has featured in numerous previous entries of the franchise. It is yet another moody still released by the star through his Facebook account that pays homage to earlier films in the series.
'Fast and Furious 7' has been speedily put into production with new director James Wan at the helm and shooting has been occurring all around the Atlanta area before it zooms off to Abu Dhabi in the coming months.
Dom's history with the Dodge Charger
The beautiful black Dodge Charger first made an appearance way back in the original film in the franchise. In 'The Fast and the Furious', Dom told Paul Walker's undercover cop Brian that he built the car with his father but had always been too afraid to drive it. When he finally raced it with Brian's colourful import, it ended badly for the car as Dom ploughed it into a truck. It was rebuilt by Letty in the fourth film, then totalled again and rebuilt in time for the fifth film when Brian used it to break Dom out of a prison bus. It then featured heavily in 'Fast Five' as Dom used it repeatedly to win cars for their heist plans. Diesel's Dom switched it up in 'Fast and Furious 6', instead driving a Dodge Charger Daytona for the spectacular action.
With Dom and the gang finally getting to return to home turf in 'Fast and Furious 7', the original Dodge Charger is getting the dust blown off and the new image shows Dom staring at his beloved baby. The still also reveals Dom is wounded, with a bloodied bandage round his hand. After the recent pictures that feature staring stars and funeral suits, this is yet another moody still from the film, promising things are going to get increasingly dark under the direction of James Wan, best known for horrors 'Saw' and 'Insidious'. Have Dom and the gang finally met their match?
'Fast and Furious 7' has a mountain to climb in terms of beating the box office of the sixth film of the franchise. 'Fast and Furious 6' has made over $780 million worldwide to date and the franchise has become one of the biggest in Universal's history. The inclusion of the Dodge Charger in this new photo is a tantalising glimpse at what is in store for the seventh film and a reward for fans that have stuck with the franchise since the very beginning.
How excited are you to see Dom behind the wheel of his roaring monster again?
Pete is a cautious fan of the Fast and Furious films; enjoying the fast cars and furious fights but not so keen on the cheesy dialogue. However he's not going to be telling Vin Diesel that last bit any time in a hurry. Follow Pete on Twitter or check out his film and TV blog: I Love That Film.
