Faye Brookes changing her name after wedding
Faye Brookes is changing her name after getting married.
The 36-year-old actress - best known for playing Kate Connor on ITV soap 'Coronation Street' - tied the knot with theatre producer Iwan Lewis at a church in the Cotswolds last month and she's now revealed she will be taking on his last name so she will become known as Faye Alicia Lewis both personally and professionally from now on.
She told OK! magazine: "I’m changing my name and I’m no longer going to be known as Faye Brookes. Not a lot of people in the industry do this, but I’m so proud and so excited to see what could come of that idea of introducing myself to the world as Faye Alicia Lewis – which is now my full name."
The soap star went on to reveal she's planning to take a break from work to enjoy married life before returning under her new married name.
She added: "Everyone there [at the wedding] that I’ve worked with is like, ‘What are you doing next?’ I’m like: ‘Nothing'. Maybe it’s a good idea for me to step out of the limelight for a little bit and see what job could come my way. What could be the right thing for me as Faye Alicia Lewis?"
Faye and Iwan were friends for more than a decade before their relationship turned romantic. They announced their engagement in January after just four months of dating and they tied the knot in August in front of 200 guests at St. John The Baptist church in the Cotswolds village of Shipton Moyne.
The ceremony was followed by a reception in a marquee and the couple then jetted off to the Maldives on honeymoon.
Iwan told the magazine the couple already has plenty of plans for the future, saying: "We’ve got a lot of business ideas; we’re looking at launching a podcast and a media enterprise. Also, we want to have a family. All of the above is possible. I’m ambitious, Faye’s even more ambitious – gosh, we’ll have nine Pomeranians and 14 kids!"
