FC Dallas' first game back against Vancouver postponed after coronavirus outbreak

FC Dallas will not take on the Vancouver Whitecaps on July 9 as planned. That MLS contest was postponed Saturday due to a coronavirus outbreak on FC Dallas.

In a statement, the team said the game will be played at a later date. Six members of FC Dallas have tested positive for coronavirus, the team confirmed. As a result, FC Dallas’ entire Orlando delegation is quarantining.

The Whitecaps were also held up due to coronavirus concerns. The team was initially expected to land in Orlando on Thursday, but will now arrive Monday after it needed more time to complete its coronavirus testing. Two players on the Whitecaps registered inconclusive tests, delaying the team’s flight. The Whitecaps performed those tests again, and both players tested negative for coronavirus.

With the postponement, FC Dallas’ first game will take place against the Seattle Sounders on July 15. Vancouver will play San Jose that same day.
