‘Rogue Two’ anyone?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Felicity Jones has the option of a ‘Rogue One’ sequel written into her ‘Star Wars’ contract.
“Jones has one sequel option in her contract, according to sources,” they reveal. “How it will be used remains a mystery, with speculation surrounding perhaps a young Luke Skywalker stand-alone in the future.”
**Warning: Major ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ spoilers below**
A young Luke Skwalker movie?
That’s certainly something we’ve heard rumoured but whether or not that ever actually happens remains to be seen. After all, do we really need to watch him bullseye womp rats in his T-16? Or heading out to Tosche Station for those elusive power converters?
A sequel to ‘Rogue One’ seems unlikely. After all, the film joins up rather nicely with the events of ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ leaving very little time in-between the two.
Could we see a spin-off of the spin-off? A prequel perhaps?
That’s another question entirely. I mean, let’s face it – we’ve heard about Jyn Erso’s colourful past, growing up alongside rebel extremist Saw Gerrera and then on the run from the Empire itself. But could Jyn’s tales of survival be the focus of another movie?
It’s certainly possible, but I’m not entirely sure it’s needed. After all, Jyn accomplished her mission and her story feels pretty much told.
And then there’s Felicity Jones’s contract. Sure, the option is there… but that doesn’t mean that Disney and Lucasfilm are ever planning to use it. Still, for now we have to wait and see.
‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ is in cinemas now.
