Fey and Poehler to host Golden Globes

Former Saturday Night Live players will take over from the UK's Ricky Gervais for the annual ceremony

US comedians Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are to host the 2013 Golden Globes.

The pair will replace the UK's very own Ricky Gervais, who has hosted the ceremony for three years running.

The pair have previously worked together on both 'Saturday Night Live' in the US and in the feature films 'Mean Girls' and 'Baby Mama'.

Fey is famously the creator of long-running NBC comedy series '30 Rock', which fictionalises – and satirises - her own experiences as being head writer on 'Saturday Night Live'.

Meanwhile, Poehler is currently the star of hit sitcom 'Parks and Recreation'.

Whether NBC, which hosts the ceremony for organisers the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, will get an easier ride from their own stars than from Ricky Gervais remains to be seen.

Gervais ruffled feathers in Hollywood each year he presented the awards for telling close-to-the-bone gags about stars.

But critics were equally as scathing about his performances as he was of his acting contemporaries, with reviews of his act gaining less favour with each year passing.

The awards air on January 13, less than two weeks before the Oscars.
