Fifty Shades & Fantastic Four ‘Win’ At Golden Raspberries 2016

The night before the illustrious annual Academy Awards can mean only one thing - the awards ceremony that no filmmaker wants to be named in.

Yes, the annual Golden Raspberry Awards, AKA the Razzies - a sarcastic response to the Oscars, ‘celebrating’ the worst films of the year - were hosted in Hollywood last night, and two major films dominated the evening.

The title of worst film was jointly awarded to erotic blockbuster ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ and botched superhero reboot ‘Fantastic Four,’ and the bulk of the awards were carved up between the two of them.

‘Fifty Shades’ actors Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson were named Worst Actor and Worst Actress respectively, whilst Worst Director was given to ‘Fantastic Four’s Josh Trank.

‘Fantastic Four’ was also named Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel (for which, to the best of our knowledge, there is no equivalent category at the Oscars).

However, it wasn’t all between Universal’s EL James adaptation and Fox’s Marvel misfire.

2015 Oscar-winner (and 2016 Oscar nominee) Eddie Redmayne can now add a Razzie to his awards shelf, having been named Worst Supporting Actor for the Wachowskis’ ‘Jupiter Ascending’ (a film which got off light, considering).

Meanwhile, Worst Supporting Actress was given to ‘The Big Bang Theory’ actress Kaley Cuoco for her work in two films: ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip’ and ‘The Wedding Ringer.’

However, it wasn’t all about poking fun, as Sylvester Stallone was given the Golden Raspberries Redeemer Award - a nod to those making up for past cinematic sins - thanks to his work in ‘Creed.’
