Finding Dory Set To Be The Biggest Pixar Movie Ever?

No she’s smiling… ‘Finding Dory’ is looking like it could become the biggest Pixar movie of all time.

Though the sequel is still just under two months away from release, box office analysts are tracking an opening of as much as $115 million or even $120 million (£82 million).

To give that some scale, it is more than the $110.3 million (£75.5 million) that 'Toy Story 3’ managed to score on its opening weekend, still Pixar’s biggest hit and a movie which went on to make over $1 billion.

“We’re pretty bullish on it,” said Shawn Robbins, senior box office analyst with BoxOffice.com, told Variety.

“It’s way ahead of pace in terms of where other Pixar releases have been. Given ‘Finding Nemo’s status as a modern classic, it’s going to be huge.”

The original movie, released back in 2003, came close to the billion dollar mark, bringing in $936.7 million (£641 million).

And Pixar could do with another solid hit, following the box office failure of 'The Good Dinosaur’ last year, which cost $200 million to make, but made back just $331.9 million (£227 million).

Though 'Inside Out’ made $857 million (£588 million) for the studio, previous movies like 'Brave’ and 'Cars 2’ also failed to live up to the expectations of the 'Toy Story’ movies, 'Up’ and 'Wall-E’.

Starring Ellen DeGeneres, resprising her role as Dory, the memory-challenged Pacific royal blue tang, it also sees Albert Brooks back as Marlin the clownfish and Hayden Rolence voicing Nemo.

Also on the bill are Diane Keaton, Eugene Levy, Ed O'Neill, Kaitlin Olson, Idris Elba, Ty Burrell, Bill Hader and Dominic West.

It’s due out in the UK on July 29.
