First Jurassic World Photos Confirm Plot Rumours

The first pics don’t reveal much, but they do give us some decent clues about the story of the film.

Filming on ‘Jurassic World’ has begun in Hawaii and the first photos from the shoot have been revealed.

Entertainment Weekly unveiled a trio of photos, one featuring Bryce Dallas Howard as the female lead, another with a dented vehicle, and a third showing the director’s chair.

Although plots details have not been revealed as yet, we do know that the film takes place 20 years after the events of the first film, on the same island that housed the first park.

These new photos confirm a few rumours about the story that have been floating around for a while, plus they give us a few hints about the direction of the plot.

The Bryce Dallas Howard pic appears to show the actress in a visitor centre of some kind, with video screens, and a touchpad guide behind her. This adds credence to the rumors that the fourth film will take place in a new, fully operational, dino-park or holiday resort.

Her character has previously been described as a “corporate scientist”, but her smart attire seems to contradict that. She seems to be more of a company representative, welcoming guests to the resort.

She’s also dressed all in white, which hints that she could be playing the John Hammond-style role in the new film.

Fans of the series will know that Steven Spielberg dressed Richard Attenborough’s deluded industrialist Hammond in all white to represent his idealistic sensibilities. Conversely Jeff Goldblum’s chaotician Dr Ian Malcolm was clad head to toe in black, to represent his more pragmatic approach to science.

The other two photos have less secrets to be gleaned from them.

The directors chair pic shows us the the dramatic rolling landscape of Hawaii, used so effectively in the first films. Director Colin Treverrow has revealed that he will be shooting the fourquel using the super widescreen 65mm film, so expect to see some stunning vistas, albeit with marauding dinos crawling all over them.

The final pic of a dented truck confirms what we already know.

Dinosaurs will be going berserk, damaging vehicles, buildings, and most likely, humans. A ‘Construction’ truck suggests that the park could still be being built, or it could be an extension being built on the park that sets off the chain of events.

It’s all speculation for now, but a few more solid facts were revealed yesterday.

Director Colin Treverrow confirmed the sequel would be using animatronic dinosaurs, just like the previous films. He also revealed that Universal have plans to expand the ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise with his film.

“We definitely talked about [sequels] a lot,” the director/co-writer revealed to Empire. “We wanted to create something that would be a little bit less arbitrary and episodic, and something that could potentially arc into a series that would feel like a complete story.”

Alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, the film also stars Chris Pratt, Omar Sy, Ty Simpkins, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Irrfan Khan. BD Wong, who played dino-scientist Dr Wu is the original films is the only returning cast member confirmed so far.

‘Jurassic World’ is coming to cinemas on 12 June, 2015.
