First Live Action Cinderella Trailer Is Utterly Enchanting
Disney’s dedication to reimagining its classic cartoons into spectacular live action films continues with ‘Cinderella’.
Watch the dazzling first full trailer above.
Directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh, this bold new take on the classic fairytale follows in the footsteps on ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and ‘Maleficent’ which both proved to huge box office draws for the studio.
Featuring British newcomer Lily James in the title role, Ken Branagh’s live action take introduces Cinderella - or just Ella as she’s known to her mother, portrayed here by Hayley Atwell - as a young girl, before her parents are cruelly taken away from her.
She’s adopted by her wicked stepmother Lady Tremaine, played with gleeful malice by Cate Blanchett, and tortured by her cruel step-sisters played by Holliday Grainger and Sophie McShera.
The rest of the story, you should know. ‘Game of Thrones’s star Richard Madden is Prince Charming, while Helena Bonham Carter - who we suspect may steal the film - plays the Fairy Godmother.
The trailer suggests Branagh has taken a “if it aint broke” approach to his adaptation which bodes well for the film’s 2015 release.
Next off the conveyor belt for Disney’s live action refreshes will be ‘The Jungle Book’. The adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel currently in production with ‘Iron Man’ director Jon Favreau at the helm and is scheduled for release at Christmas next year.
'Cinderella' is coming to UK cinemas on 27 March, 2015
