Stars and Stripes is a former mobster turned leader of a crime fighting syndicate called Justice Forever, inspired by the antics of Kick-Ass in the first instalment.

The new heroes will be hunted down by Red Mist, played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who has been reinvented as The Motherf**ker, who assembles his own league of evil doers.

Hit Girl, the foul-mouthed assassin, will be reprised by Chloe Grace Moretz, while new castmembers include 'Scrubs' star Donald Faison, Ultimate Fighting champ Chuck Liddell, John Leguizamo and Olga Kurkulina as supervillain Mother Russia.

'Cry Wolf' helmsman Jeff Wadlow is in the director's chair, taking over from Matthew Vaughn, who took care of the first film.

The film is due out on July 19.
