Here she is… screen legend Angelica Houston glides into the John Wick universe as ‘The Director’ in this first look at her character from John Wick: Chapter 3.

Sat across a desk, it appears she and Keanu Reeves’ (mostly) reluctant hit man may have themselves something of a complex relationship.

Director Chad Stahelski has already hinted on how the two fit together in the John Wick story.

“Anjelica Huston is playing this Roma Ruska character,” Stahelski told Empire, where the pic has been unveiled.

“[She’s] someone who was responsible for [Wick’s] upbringing and his protection.”

He adds that this third movie is ‘a little bit of an origin story’.

The shot follows our first glimpse at new star Halle Berry as Sofia, another fellow assassin set to appear in the next instalment.

As we saw in John Wick 2, Reeves’ assassin is on the run after being forced into breaking crime hotel The Continental’s golden rule by murdering a member of the ‘High Table’ on the premises.

Now with a $14 million bounty on his head, his task is to somehow escape New York.

Per the official synopsis:

“John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s ‘Excommunicado’ – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.”

Also on the bill are Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Ruby Rose, Jason Mantzoukas and Common.

It’s due to hit UK screens on May 17, 2019.
