First look at Doctor Who star Karen Gillan in Guardians of the Galaxy

The red-haired Scot goes bald and blue to play Nebula in new film from the 'Avengers Assemble’ studio.

...

'Doctor Who' star Karen Gillan has had a shocking make-over for her new film ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, which premiered it's trailer on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live'.

Watch the footage below.

The Scottish actress, best known for playing The Doctor's flame-haired companion Amy Pond in ‘Doctor Who’, shaved her head for the part which sees her play a blue-skinned alien, one of the film’s villains.

The trailer doensn't clip doesn’t give much away, but Gillan is virtually unrecognisable as the knife-wielding badass who is said to possess a gifted strategical intellect as well as impressive combat skills.

The sci-fi fantasy ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ is something of a departure for Marvel, a brand synonymous with superheroes, often being described as the film studio’s 'Star Wars’.

A bold claim considering cinemagoers have their own trip to that “galaxy far, far away” looming in 2015, but with its stellar cast including hotter than hot Chris Pratt (also lined up for ‘Jurassic World’) and Zoe Saldana (‘Star Trek’, ‘Avatar’) it should keep fantasy fans happy until the Force returns.

Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel also recently joined the ‘Guardians’ cast as the voices of Rocket Raccoon, a gun toting raccoon, and Groot, a huge humanoid tree-creature.

It sounds like they took the cantina scene from ‘Star Wars: A New Hope’ and made a whole film out of it. Where do we sign up?
