First Look At Michael Keaton As McDonald’s Pioneer Ray Kroc In The Founder

Ahead of the film’s release this August, The Weinstein Company has revealed the first look at Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc, the man who made McDonald’s the global brand it is today.

Following the first poster, revealed last Friday, the first shot from the film shows Kroc in front of a fifties version of the famed fast food restaurant.

It may not sound like the most exciting cinematic proposition, but the poster hints that the film has a satirical edge with its tagline “He took someone else’s idea, and America ate it up”.

Kroc was a salesman from Illinois before he joined McDonalds in 1954, taking the creation of Richard and Maurice McDonald and turning it into an iconic, global brand.

The film has a lot more talent on board than just Keaton. ‘Saving Mr Banks’ and ‘The Blind Side’s director John Lee Hancock is at the helm, working from the script of ‘The Wrestler’s Robert D. Siegel.

In front of the camera Laura Dern, Linda Cardellini, Nick Offerman, Patrick Wilson, BJ Novak and John Carroll Lynch star alongside Keaton, who might just be eyeing an Oscar nomination come 2017.

No UK release date has been set for ‘The Founder’, but it will be released in the US on 5 August. We’re hoping the film gets a better name before that.
