Aronofsky realises his childhood dream with first look at his Noah's Ark

Darren Aronofsky has tweeted the first picture of the ark he's building for his forthcoming biblical epic 'Noah'.

'The Wrestler' director sounded childishly excited about the vast set for the film, which is currently under construction.

“I dreamt about this since I was 13. And now it's a reality. Genesis 6:14 #noah,” he tweeted along with the picture, which gives a snapshot of the scale of the project.

Fans immediately began tweeting back their support.

Mike Muegel wrote: “A real set instead of some awful virtual abomination? Thank you sir.”

Filming is set to start in New York and Iceland this month.

It was announced earlier this week that Sir Anthony Hopkins has been cast as the 969-year-old Methuselah in the film.

He joins a cast which already includes Russell Crowe as the titular ark-fanatic himself, Emma Watson as Ila, Jennifer Connelly as Naameh and Ray Winstone as a reported villainous character.
