First Look at Power Rangers new Putty Patrollers

‘Power Rangers’ villain Rita Repulsa is back… and so are her Putties.

It looks as though the upcoming ‘Power Rangers’ movie will be bringing back the Putty Patrol – the iconic henchmen of the original baddie, Rita Repulsa. But don’t expect spandex and dodgy grey masks this time around.

In fact, they look a lot more monstrous.

Thanks to the folks at Toys R Us (via comicbook.com) we have our first good look at the ‘Power Rangers’ new Putty Patrollers. And they’re definitely an improvement on Rita’s previous creations.

Of course, these are still just the toy versions of the on-screen henchmen… but it still gives us a good indication of what we can expect to see in the film.

And they look pretty cool to me.

It appears that the new Putties have a more monstrous face – presumably to look more as though it’s actually been moulded from putty or some such. And the Putty’s torso even seems to include some kind of metal mesh… which is rather intriguing.

Have these ‘Putties’ been moulded from surrounding rubble?

It certainly makes a lot of sense. After all, the new ‘Power Rangers’ movie seemingly riffs on elements of the classic kids TV series, but provides something a bit different… as is the case with the film’s concept art for Alpha-5 as well as the new version of Rita and even the Power Rangers themselves.

Could we find Rita creating ‘Putties’ directly on the battlefield?

That would sure be a new take on the classic ‘Power Rangers’ character… and would give Rita and her army an interesting dynamic. But for now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Either way, it looks as though the Putties are getting one hell of a makeover.
