First look at Ben Stiller's return in Netflix's '90s comedy sequel

Ben Stiller has been spotted on the set of Netflix's Happy Gilmore sequel.

The long-awaited follow-up to the 1996 Adam Sandler comedy officially began production in New Jersey last month, and Stiller has now been photographed while filming on set.

The photo confirms that the actor has stepped back into his role as nursing home orderly Hal L, who is still rocking a horseshoe moustache and bushy hair - though they're looking a bit greyer this time around.

The original movie stars Sandler as the titular failed ice hockey player, who discovers he has a talent for golf and enters a tournament to help save his grandmother's home from foreclosure.

Sandler is reprising his role as Happy for the sequel, while Christopher McDonald is returning as the character's golfing rival Shooter McGavin and Julie Bowen is reprising her role as Happy's girlfriend Virginia Venit.

Sandler's Uncut Gems collaborator Benny Safdie, stand-up comic Nick Swardson, musician Bad Bunny and The Substance actor Margaret Qualley have also been cast in undisclosed roles.

Sandler also previously announced that NFL star Travis Kelce will make a cameo in the project.

"Travis has… he mentioned [having a cameo], so we have a nice something for Travis," he said on The Tonight Show.

"He’s gonna come by. He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell."

Sandler co-wrote the sequel's script with Tim Herlihy, whom he has previously worked with on Hubie Halloween, Murder Mystery, Grown Ups and more. Meanwhile, Kyle Newacheck replaces original Happy Gilmore director Dennis Dugan.

Happy Gilmore 2 will stream on Netflix, with a release date yet to be confirmed.
