Emily in Paris's Ashley Park stars in a first look at Lionsgate's raucous new comedy, Joy Ride.

From the co-screenwriter of Crazy Rich Asians, Adele Lim, Joy Ride promises to be an R-rated unapologetic comedy tackling identity and self-discovery (via Entertainment Weekly).

Park is best known for originating the role of Gretchen Wieners on Mean Girls on Broadway and for playing Mindy in Lily Collins' Netflix show. In Joy Ride, she stars as Audrey, who goes on a business trip to Asia and takes a chance at finding her birth mother.

It is a tough task indeed, but Audrey won't do it alone. She will track down her mum with the help of her wild, ride-or-die childhood BFF Lolo (Sherry Cola), her college pal and Chinese soap star Kat (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Everything Everywhere All At Once's Oscar nominee Stephanie Hsu) and Lolo's eccentric cousin Deadeye (Sabrina Wu).

From a glance at the quartet in the newly released picture, it's clear the four of them couldn't be any more different from one another and will need to readjust their needs to make this trip work.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Park said not only is Joy Ride great fun, but it also opens new possibilities for underrepresented groups.

"This film wildly pushes the limits of comedy, while giving heart and voice and dimension to people who have never had a meaningful part in this genre on screen," she said. "I just can't wait for people to have the best time watching it."

Meanwhile, Cola teased what viewers can expect of the film – and that's to expect the unexpected.

"You've simply never seen Asian leads on the big screen, in this way – period! It's a fun, R-rated, touching, culturally specific, unapologetic, in-your-face film. You'll get humor, heart, and horniness. It's truly a good time from start to finish. Everyone in the audience will be picking up their jaws from the floor."

Joy Ride will be released in US cinemas on June 23 and UK cinemas on August 4.
