Peter Pan & Wendy has released its first trailer, unveiling its first look at Jude Law as Captain Hook.

Directed by David Lowery, the latest adaptation of JM Barrie’s classic novel stars Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson as the two titular characters and follows them as they travel across Neverland.

The trailer showcases the beautiful landscapes of the magical world, and near the end, Law’s villain appears. In an ominous voice, Captain Hook asks Wendy where his nemesis is.

Also partly based on the Disney's own 1953 animation, Peter Pan & Wendy stars Yara Shahidi as Tinker Bell, Jim Gaffigan as Mr Smee and Alan Tudyk as George Darling.

It's slated to be a Disney+ exclusive, set to drop on the platform on April 28.

Joint-lead star Anderson previously spoke about the moment she found out she was playing Wendy.

"I just feel like Wendy, the girl that doesn't ever want to grow up! I wanted this part so bad. It's all I could think about," she said to Flaunt.

“I was having a sleepover at my best friend's house when my parents called me on FaceTime. My mom asked if I was alone, so I took myself into a closet where I could have some privacy,” she recalled.

"My mom stared at me for a long moment with a very serious face and then broke into a huge smile and said: 'You got the part!'"

2023 will be a busy year for Disney, with the long-awaited live-action remake of The Little Mermaid due to be released in the summer.

Lead star Halle Bailey recently spoke about the backlash she received upon her casting as Ariel, adding that she wasn’t surprised by the vitriol.

"As a Black person, you just expect it, and it's not really a shock anymore," she said. "When [sister Chlöe and I] first signed to Parkwood, Beyoncé was always like: 'I never read my comments. Don’t ever read the comments.'

"When the teaser came out, I was at the [Disney fan event] D23 Expo and I was so happy. I didn't see any of the negativity."

Peter Pan & Wendy is scheduled to be released on Disney+ on April 28.
