Mission: Impossible 7 is on track to release later this year – with Tom Cruise angrily threatening anyone working on the production who breaks COVID safety protocols – and a first-look image has just been released.

Movie studio Paramount has shown an image of Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt running down a dark, foggy environment.

He should probably slow down unless he trips over and bumps into a wall – but we don't think he'd listen, this is the guy who likes to hang out the side of planes, after all.

The photo is also slightly reminiscent of an anecdote told by Cruise's The Mummy reboot co-star Annabelle Wallis, who said that Cruise had a rule that people didn't run alongside him onscreen.

She did manage to get him to break that rule with her in the 2017 film, but it took her a while. It was recently announced that – in America at least – the film would come to the upcoming streaming service Paramount+ a very short 45 days after coming out in cinemas.

Similarly to HBO Max, we don't know when or if it is coming to the UK.

Mission: Impossible 7 currently has a scheduled release date of November 19, 2021, with an eighth movie pencilled in for 2022.
