One of the pictures was tweeted by an actress, who snapped Hanks while on set.

The film, which is out in December in the US and sometime in the New Year in the UK, tells the story of Disney's 14-year battle to persuade writer P.L. Travers to allow them to make the movie of her book 'Mary Poppins'.

While Hanks plays Disney himself, Emma Thompson takes on the role of Travers.

It also stars Colin Farrell, Paul Giamatti and Jason Schwartzman.

Hanks was happy to talk about the film while on the recent publicity tour for 'Cloud Atlas', in which he also stars.

“The script is really delightful and what it’s talking about is how difficult it was to make Mary Poppins,” he told Slash Film.

“So it’s another version of Mary Poppins by way of the relationship between P.L. Travers, who wrote it, and everybody that made the movie because it was a very contentious experience.”

Hanks was also grilled as to whether his portrayal of Disney would be a 'warts and all' affair, but he added: “I don’t think you’d be able to because he was not a warty guy. There were the labor issues in the Forties and stuff like that but by an large, no.

“I mean he died of lung cancer because he smoked about three packs a day and we will be showing him sort of smoking. So it’s going to be that kind of thing.”
