Disney has just released the trailer for Wish, an upcoming animated feature from the creative duo behind hit movie Frozen.

Directed by Chris Buck and story artist Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon) in her feature directorial debut, Wish stars West Side Story's Ariana DeBose, Star Trek's Chris Pine and Alan Tudyk returning to a Disney project after Encanto, Disenchanted and Strange World.

The trailer gives fans a first look at the Kingdom of Rosas, where wishes are supposed to come true — as long as greedy, evil King Magnifico (Pine) grants them. But idealist 17-year-old Asha (DeBose) senses something is wrong with the king and makes a plea to the stars, together with her pet goat Valentino (Tudyk).

An actual star named, you guessed it, Star answers Asha's wish. From the look of it, Star doesn't just turn Valentino into a goat, but also helps Asha and her community to break free from Magnifico.

In the clip, fans are treated to a snippet of 'This Wish,' one of the songs written by Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice for the film and performed by DeBose.

Wish is co-written by Frozen's Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore and combines computer animation with watercolour animation.

"We have been inspired by so many iconic films over Disney Animation's 100 years, especially stories where we explore the power of someone with a wish, combined with the conviction to make that wish come true," Veerasunthorn said in a statement.

"Being able to honour that legacy with this incredible story and these amazing characters has been a joy for our entire team."

Wish is released in cinemas on November 22.
