Knights of the Zodiac, the Saint Seiya live-action film, starring Sean Bean and Famke Janssen has just released a first trailer, giving fans a glimpse of the upcoming manga adaptation.

Based on the original 1980s manga created by Masami Kurumada, Knights of the Zodiac features the Game of Thrones and X-Men stars directed by The Witcher executive producer Tomek Bagiński. The script is penned by Josh Campbell, Matt Stuecken and Kiel Murray.

Much like the manga, the movie follows Seiya (played by Mackenyu), a headstrong street teen who spends his time fighting for cash while looking for his abducted sister.

During one of his fights, he unwittingly taps into some mystical energy known as Cosmo, which he never knew he could summon, catching the eye of Bean's character Alman Kido. The latter is determined to protect his daughter Sienna (Jumanji's Madison Iseman), who discovers she's the reincarnation of goddess Athena.

"Seiya finds himself thrust into a world of warring saints, ancient magical training and a reincarnated goddess who needs his protection," the official synopsis reads.

"If he's to survive, he will need to embrace his destiny and sacrifice everything to take his rightful place among the Knights of the Zodiac."
