The first trailer for Out of Darkness, a new horror film starring Shadow and Bone's Kit Young, has been released.

Rather than following a group of teenagers in the woods as something attacks them, the film is set in 43,000 BCE and follows a group of hunters in the woods as something attacks them.

We see our protagonists find the carcass of a giant beast in a crevasse and are soon being terrorised by something loud in the night time.

One of the characters is worried that the group has "trespassed" upon forbidden territory, and something is "punishing" them for it, while another argues that they don't care because they need to save his son.

Soon enough it looks like the group starts turning on each other, with one claiming that they need to exorcise a demon from one of the younger hunters. But are they really possessed, or is the one professing to do the exorcising the one who's actually got something really wrong with them?

You'll have to wait a short while to find out, as Out of Darkness isn't hitting the big screen until February 9, although it was screened at the BFI London Film Festival.

Just last month, it was announced that Shadow and Bone had been cancelled, while a planned spin-off was no longer going ahead either.

"It's been one of the greatest highlights of my career and my life so far to play Jesper and be your gunslinger," Young wrote in response to the news.

"To Leigh, Eric, Deagan, all our writers, directors, crew over the years and of course the fans a special thank you to you too. Thank you for all the continued support and love. Finally to my fellow cast mates (you know how much I love you all)."
