Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp has had the trailer for his new movie released – and fans will get to see a different side to him in this creepy mystery thriller.

The Tutor follows Tulsa King actor Garrett Hedlund as a tutor in over his head after he is assigned a student at a mansion. Schnapp plays the student – Jackson – who becomes obsessed with his new tutor in a dangerous way.

The trailer starts off with Hedlund's Ethan arriving at the mansion to find Jackson looking rather intense and a little creepy. Ethan asks Jackson about his parents, which makes the student upset and irrational.

"The kid is giving me sort of a strange vibe," Ethan says as Jackson's true nature reveals itself. Later in the trailer, Jackson asks questions of his own and enquires about Ethan's expected baby, which Ethan is startled to find out Jackson knew about.

"He's obsessed with me, a total stalker sort of way," Ethan says as Jackson fakes bruises and being attacked in order to frame Ethan. Ethan's life begins to unravel as the obsessed Jackson wreaks havoc, culminating in the two men confronting one another.

The trailer ends with a shot of Jackson holding a gun, hinting at the violence to come in this tense thriller.

Schnapp, who plays Will Byers in Stranger Things, recently came out as gay in a social media post.

"When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was, 'We know'. I guess I'm more similar to Will than I thought," Schnapp's post read.

Fans and co-stars alike have flocked to support him, including Finn Wolfhard and David Harbour.

"I'm always happy for people that are true to themselves and come out," Harbour said Schnapp's news. "That was terrific."

Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are now streaming worldwide on Netflix.
