A scene from 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire'

COMMENT | 'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' has been out for some time now, and all 'Hunger Games' fans have had time to take the movie in and reflect on how much they enjoyed it, and how it compared to the original. So what were the five best scenes from the second 'Hunger Games' movie? (SPOILER ALERT: don't read on if you don't want to know what happens!)

1. When Katniss reveals her Mockingjay dress

This was a minor scene in terms of importance to the storyline in all honesty, but nevertheless one that creates an impact in the cinema, particular when you have Jennifer Lawrence playing Katniss.

2. The public beating of Gale

By contrast, this was one of the most shocking scenes in the entire 'Hunger Games' series, and arguably the most powerful one in the book. This was the moment at which the brutality of this society became entirely clear, and the emotional, psychological and physical intensity of it is magnified by it being up on the big screen.

3. "There's no District 12"

This is without doubt the biggest bombshell in the second book of the trilogy and possibly the entire series. It is a particularly poignant moment, and was delivered and acted superbly well on screen by Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence. Of course, this moment remains a pivotal one throughout the remainder of the series.

4. Katniss blowing up the forcefield

'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' had a massive budget, and of course a significant amount of that went into special effects. This was intended to attract as many thousands of people into the cinema as possible, which seems to have been successful. There was no better example of the flashy effects in the movie than this scene, which looked incredible in the IMAX.

5. Katniss and Peeta on the beach

Of course, the other element of the 'Hunger Games' movies which has attracted people to both the books and movies in the love triangle. So I've picked a sweet scene to finish. This is a particular favourite of 'Hunger Games' fans due to its sweetness, as Katniss and Peeta spend some intimate moments together away from the deadly situation which is the centrepiece of the storyline.
