Is there a trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s?

There is. The first trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s set up the film’s core concept pretty well.

A young man is forced to take the night shift at a kids' entertainment venue. All he has to do is keep an eye on the place… something that’s easier said than done when he discovers that its in-house puppets come to life after midnight.

Meanwhile, the film’s second trailer wasted no time showing us just how murderous these ‘family friendly’ animatronic monsters can be. It also sheds more light on the supernatural element of the film’s nail-biting story.

Who’s starring in Five Nights at Freddy’s?

The Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson plays Mike, the out-of-work guy who’s forced to take a night-time security guard role at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a fictional kids’ eatery that’s similar in nature to the real-life Chuck-E-Cheese venues across America.

Piper Rubio plays Abby, Mike’s little sister who he has to babysit whilst he’s carrying out his night shift work. Mary Stuart Masterson plays Mike and Abby’s Aunt Jane, someone who may soon take custody of Abby from Mike if he can't find a new job quick.

Scream star Matthew Lillard appears as Steve, a character who claims to be Mike’s career counsellor helping him to get set up at his new job at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Lail plays Vanessa, a police officer who clues Mike into the venue’s dark and deadly history.

The main plot of Five Nights at Freddy’s takes its cues from the popular indie video game series of the same name which was created by Scott Cawthon.

In the movie, we follow Mike, a down-on-his-luck guy who is in need of a job and finds one via his careers counsellor Steve. It’s a security guard position at an abandoned pizzeria and family entertainment centre called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. Initially, Mike is reluctant to accept the role but does so in order to keep social services from taking his younger sister Abby to live with their aunt.

Initially, the role looks easy enough; all he has to do is keep intruders out of the building and a close eye on its huge, in-house puppet characters throughout the night.

There are five animals to watch - Bonnie the bunny, Chica the bird, Foxxy the fox and Freddy the bear - and each is made up of large and imposing animatronics.

After a police officer visits, Mike learns that the restaurant was closed down in the 1980s when a number of child disappearances were linked to the venue.

Soon afterwards, he discovers that Freddy's signature mascots become inhabited by the spirits of these dead children after midnight and come to life, killing whoever crosses their path.

Together with his sister Abby, Mike must try to survive his stint at Freddy's whilst uncovering the real culprit behind the killings. According to comments made by the movie's producer Jason Blum, Five Nights at Freddy's could be hiding a secret extra character that has not been glimpsed during its marketing.

Blum's reveal set fans to work trying to figure out who this new character could be, with some believing it is a dual villainous role delivered by Matthew Lillard's Steve and others suggesting it could be a new animatronic mascot, with the most popular guess being Springtrap, the most infamous character killer from the video game series.
