The film also starred You's Elizabeth Lail, NCIS actor Mary Stuart Masterson and newcomer Piper Rubio.
Five Nights at Freddy's scored a $78 million opening in the US, which makes it the third-biggest horror opening of all time behind the two It movies, as well as Blumhouse's biggest-ever US box office debut ahead of 2018's Halloween.
Worldwide, the film made $130 million on the same weekend, making it Blumhouse's biggest-ever global debut and the highest-grossing horror movie debut of 2023, ahead of The Nun II. In total, the film took more than a staggering $290 million at the box office.

In an interview with Variety, Hutcherson previously issued an update on the sequel, saying: "I know they're in the process right now of nailing down the story, and they want to get going as soon as possible.
"Obviously the fans are amazing and die hard. For me to be a part of it was so cool and phenomenal. We hoped it would connect with audiences. But I don't think that anybody, even on our side of things, expected it to really connect the way that it did."
He continued: "I'm dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I'm excited to see what they are doing next."
