Five Nights at Freddy's filmmaker teases secret character
Five Nights at Freddy's producer Jason Blum has teased fans that there will be a secret character in the upcoming movie adaptation of Scott Cawthorn's cult classic video game.
The movie's story follows a security guard who has to take a job working at the kids-style restaurant Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. But soon into the job, he realises the gig won't be as easy as he thinks as he begins to uncover the dark past — and terrifying present — of Freddy's.
The film has excited plenty of fans and theories and rumours are swirling fast. Now, Blum and director Emma Tammi have added to that themselves by teasing a mystery character.

Blum, who is the CEO of the horror film studio Blumhouse Productions, discussed Easter eggs and connections to the video game during the Blumfest panel at 2023's New York Comic Con (via ScreenRant).
The CEO said that a mystery character will crop up during the film and that the character is so mysterious that they haven't even been teased in the film's trailer or marketing. Blum refused to clarify whether the character is human or animatronic or something else.
Fans have theorised that the character could be Matthew Lillard's. Lillard officially plays Steve Raglan, the career counsellor of Josh Hutcherson's Mike. However, Tammi previously said that Lillard would be playing "an iconic role" in the movie.

Fans have speculated if his character could actually, therefore, be William Afton, who, in the video game, is the original owner of the restaurant and is the serial killer who murdered the children whose souls inhabit the animatronics.
If the mysterious character is an animatronic, however, it could be Springtrap, who is the most villainous animatronic in the game and is actually Afton as an animatronic. Other options include various evil animatronics such as Mangle, The Puppet, Balloon Boy, and Circus Baby.
The film stars The Hunger Games' Hutcherson, Scream's Lillard, and You actress Elizabeth Lail. The film will be released in the US on October 27 and in the UK on the same date.
