The Flash hasn't held any surprises back for cinema release

The Flash director-producer duo Andy and Barbara Muschietti have confirmed that the film will not be holding back any surprises for its cinema release.

Ahead of the film's opening later this week, there were rumours that another credit scene had been held back in the version screened to press, but siblings Andy and Barbara denied this in an exclusive interview with Digital Spy.

"You can [see it again], I can lie to you," Barbara told us with a laugh, with Andy adding: "There's no more surprises. That's it.

"For the audiences that haven't seen it, there are a lot of surprises ahead if you haven't seen any of the versions. The version that you will see in cinemas is the final version."

The Flash, which stars Ezra Miller in the lead role, sees Barry Allen trapped in an alternate reality after travelling back in time to prevent the death of his mother. With its multiverse-oriented plot, the film sees Michael Keaton and Michael Shannon reprise their roles as Batman and General Zod, respectively.

Shannon, who appeared as the villain in 2013’s Man of Steel, recently revealed that he was surprised when asked if he would return to DC, saying: "I was a little confused. I said, 'As memory serves me, I think I died in Man of Steel. Are they sure they got the right guy?

"But then they explained to me the whole multiverse phenomenon, which... I was a little behind the times on that," he added. "I can't say that I'm a huge consumer of this genre of films — not that I have anything against them. If I'm going to watch a movie, the odds are it's not going to be one of those, but I sure love making them."

The Flash also sees Sasha Calle play Supergirl, with the actress revealing that she gained the approval of former Superman star Henry Cavill: "I met him actually after the movie was done, months later," she revealed.

"I gave him a big hug. You know, it's Henry Cavill, man! Our Man of Steel. He is kind and very proper, and it was a great experience," she continued. "I asked him: 'Did I make you proud, cuz? Does Superman approve?' And he was like: 'Absolutely. You did a phenomenal job.' I think, to me, that meant the world."

The Flash is released in UK cinemas on June 14 and in US cinemas on June 16.
